I wasn't always a journalist. I went to law school to be a prosecutor. After I graduated, I took a job in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office, where I prosecuted street crime and handled numerous long-term investigations (some involving wiretaps) into crimes ranging from narcotics trafficking to union corruption by the mob. It was an exhausting but rewarding and educational eight years.I got my BA from Purdue University in Indiana. And I remain an avid Boilermaker fan to this day. After graduation, I returned to NYC where I grew up to get my law degree from NYU. I live—and work—in Brooklyn with Taggart, my Australian Shepherd, who, in addition to being a great officemate, does therapy dog work with me at a local hospital.
